WHAT IS A COOKIE?
A cookie is a small text file or similar record that is stored on or read from your device when you visit a website.
Cookies may contain information relating to your browsing session, shopping cart, selected language, login status, security settings or cookie preferences.
Certain cookies may also be used to analyse Website usage, measure purchases and other events, or evaluate the effectiveness of advertising campaigns.
Cookies cannot independently access arbitrary files or other information stored on your device. The information processed depends on the specific technology, its purpose and the relevant provider.
In addition to traditional cookies, the Websites may use similar technologies, including:
- tracking pixels and tags;
- local storage and session storage;
- software development kits;
- device and browser identifiers;
- server-side events and log files;
- technologies used to record cookie preferences and consent.
References to cookies in this Policy generally include these similar technologies unless the context indicates otherwise.
LEGAL FRAMEWORK AND LEGAL BASES
The storage of information on your device or access to information already stored on your device is governed by applicable national laws implementing Article 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC on privacy and electronic communications.
Where the use of cookies or similar technologies involves the processing of personal data, the processing is also governed by Regulation (EU) 2016/679 – the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).
Additional national electronic communications, privacy and data protection legislation may apply according to the country in which the relevant Website is provided or accessed.
Strictly necessary technologies
Strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies may be used where they are required:
- to transmit a communication over an electronic communications network;
- to provide a digital service expressly requested by the user;
- to operate the shopping cart and checkout;
- to maintain a secure user session;
- to authenticate users and protect accounts;
- to process orders and selected payment methods;
- to record and respect cookie preferences;
- to prevent fraud, attacks and misuse.
Where strictly necessary technologies process personal data, the legal basis may, depending on the purpose, include:
- Article 6(1)(b) GDPR, where processing is required to perform a contract or take steps at your request before entering into a contract;
- Article 6(1)(c) GDPR, where processing is required to comply with a legal obligation;
- Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, where processing is necessary for our legitimate interest in providing a secure, reliable and functional online store, provided that your interests and fundamental rights do not override that interest.
Non-essential technologies
Analytics, advertising, personalisation and other non-essential technologies are activated only after you have given your prior consent.
Where these technologies process personal data, the legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.
Giving consent is voluntary. You may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future.
Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the consent was withdrawn.
SESSION AND PERSISTENT COOKIES
Session cookies
Session cookies are temporary cookies that are generally deleted when you close your browser or when your session ends.
They may be used to:
- keep products in your shopping cart;
- enable the checkout process;
- maintain a secure browsing session;
- allow navigation between pages;
- prevent the loss of information entered during checkout.
Persistent cookies
Persistent cookies remain stored on your device for a predefined period after the browser has been closed.
They may be used to:
- remember the selected language;
- remember your cookie preferences;
- recognise your browser during future visits;
- remember certain Website preferences;
- analyse Website use and campaign performance;

First-party cookies
First-party cookies are placed or read directly through the SKATINGER domain that you are visiting.
They are commonly used for technical functions, session management, the shopping cart, login, Website security, language settings and recording your cookie preferences.
Third-party cookies
Third-party cookies or similar technologies are provided by external service providers.
These providers may include analytics, advertising, payment, multimedia, mapping and social media services.
Non-essential third-party technologies are activated only after you have consented to the relevant category.
Some third-party providers may act as independent or joint controllers for certain processing activities. Their own privacy policies, cookie policies and terms may therefore also apply.

- the selected language;
- display and layout preferences;
- remembered login details where this function is selected;
- recently viewed products;

Whether consent is required depends on whether the particular technology is strictly necessary to provide a function that you expressly requested.
Functional technologies that are not strictly necessary are activated only with your consent.

- associate visits with a particular campaign;
- display more relevant advertising;
- create audiences for advertising campaigns;

5. External media and embedded content
The Websites may include embedded external content, such as:
- videos;
- social media posts;
- maps;
- interactive content;
- external fonts or multimedia resources.
Loading external content may create a connection to the provider’s servers.
The provider may receive information such as your IP address, device and browser information and the address of the page that you are visiting.
External content requiring consent will not be loaded until you accept the relevant category or expressly activate the content.
GOOGLE ANALYTICS AND GOOGLE SERVICES

- Klarna;
- Google Pay;

When you select a payment method, information required to process the transaction may be transferred to the relevant payment provider.
Payment providers may use their own cookies or similar technologies to:
- technically process the payment;
- protect the payment session;
- prevent fraudulent or unauthorised transactions;
- perform required identity and security checks;
- provide the selected payment method.
Technologies strictly necessary to provide the payment method that you selected may be used as part of the expressly requested payment process.
Any additional use for analytics, profiling or marketing requires an appropriate legal basis and, where applicable, your prior consent.
Payment providers may act as independent controllers for certain processing activities. Their own privacy and cookie policies may therefore apply.
SOCIAL NETWORKS AND EXTERNAL PLATFORMS
The Websites may contain links to or embedded content from social networks and external platforms, including:
- Facebook;
- Instagram;
- YouTube;
- TikTok;
- LinkedIn.
A standard link to a social network generally creates a connection to the external provider only after you click the link.
Directly embedded videos, posts, plugins or similar content may create a connection to the provider when the content is loaded.
Consent-based embedded content and technologies are loaded only after you have accepted the relevant category or expressly activated the content.
If you are logged in to the relevant social network, the provider may be able to associate your visit with your user account.
The provider’s own privacy and cookie policies apply to that processing.
COOKIE BANNER AND CONSENT OPTIONS
During your first visit, a cookie banner will be displayed through which you can:
- accept all optional cookies;
- reject all non-essential cookies;
- select individual cookie categories;
- review additional information about the technologies used.
Non-essential categories are not selected in advance.
Your silence, inactivity, continued browsing or closing the cookie banner does not constitute consent to non-essential cookies.
Your selection is stored so that the cookie banner does not need to be displayed during every page visit.
The cookie used to record your preference is considered necessary because it enables us to respect your decision.
Where an “Accept All” option is displayed, an option to reject all non-essential cookies is also made easily available.
Individual categories and purposes may be selected through the detailed Cookie Settings.
CHANGING YOUR SETTINGS AND WITHDRAWING CONSENT
You may change or withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future through the Cookie Settings available on the Websites.
Withdrawing consent is intended to be as easy as giving consent.
After consent has been withdrawn, the relevant non-essential technologies will no longer be activated.
Cookies already stored on your device may additionally be deleted through your browser settings.
Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before consent was withdrawn.
COOKIE LIST, PROVIDERS AND STORAGE PERIODS
The specific cookies and technologies used may change as a result of technical updates, new functions or changes to service providers.

Cookie consent records may be retained for the period necessary to:
- demonstrate that valid consent was obtained;
- respect a refusal or withdrawal of consent;
- comply with legal obligations;
- establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
